Humans and our ancestral lineage have been using stone tools and harnessing the transformative power of fire for over 3 million years! The use of stone tools and fire is deeply engrained in our brains, bodies, psyches, and souls. Come and learn the basics of stone-age technology and feel the joy of understanding and connecting with the fundamentals of human technology.
In this three day class students will learn the simple, yet complex joys of making your own stone tools made from your local landscape. During our time, students will flint knapp different stone tools in order to make their own stone saws and blades. Using those tools, students will then process and cook, sustainably harvested, roadkill squirrels as well as make their own primitive spear thrower (atlatl).
With the rest of our time each student will learn how to naturally tan the squirrel hide, make fire from sticks, as well as learn the basics of throwing 6 ft long spears at Wooly Mammoths! This class will surely be a treat to those who are hungry to learn the skills of all our ancestors!
As with all of our classes, students are welcome to camp out on our beautiful 45 acre site. Campsites and basic amenities are provided but students are required to bring their own gear.
