Sunday in the Park: Acorn Processing

  • Carrier Park 220 Amboy Road Asheville, NC, 28806 United States (map)

For thousands of years people have been processing acorns and enjoying the delicious and nutritious taste of the Oak tree.  This wild food is perhaps the most nutrient dense, as well as most abundant wild food in our area.

In this 3 hour class you will learn the medicine of acorns, how to process them as well as the different species of oak trees.  Furthermore, we will discuss cooking with acorn flour and nutrition.  Every student will get hands on experience, cracking and grinding acorns!

Cost: Suggested Donation $20-30

Location: We will meet next to the pavilion at Carrier park, West Asheville, NC.
